Police in Honduras say a ruling party lawmaker has been assassinated in the northern industrial city of San Pedro Sula. Mario Fernando Hernandez Bonilla, a Deputy Speaker of the Honduran Congress was campaigning with his Liberal party colleague Marcos Collier when they were gunned down by two masked attackers.
The 42-year-old Hernandez, who also headed the assembly's security commission, was seeking reelection to Congress on November 30. Collier was campaigning for a congressional seat.
