Returning to the scene of his only pro defeat, Hatton was too strong and too smart at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
He rocked Malignaggi with a right hook in the second round and dictated every round that followed, outboxing as well as outmuscling his New York oppponent.
Malignaggi's corner stopped the fight in the 11th much to the disgust of the fighter, who looked fit to continue.
Hatton suffered the only defeat of his pro career at the MGM Grand at the hands of Floyd Mayweather Jr, the son of his new trainer.
"I enjoyed it here better this time than last time, that's for sure," said the Manchester boxer.
